FEATURED APPLICATION: PI CARE ASSISTANT

Today’s medicines on time, your own readings kept for the doctor, today’s visits written down — and the house, the money and what it is all worth, on one statement.

The home screen shows today’s appointments and what is coming up. Each medicine is entered once — its strength, the doctor who prescribed it, what it is for and the times it is due, or as needed — and when a dose is due a reminder comes up; one press on TAKE writes the time down. Med History shows what was taken and what was missed. Phone Alerts texts the person, a caregiver or both, and if a text did not go out the app says so on every screen until someone puts it right. Care at a Glance keeps the doctor, the emergency contact, allergies and conditions on one screen for anyone who walks in. A caregiver signs in with their own PIN; the duty log keeps who came and for how long, and the Care Log records each visit — what was helped with, and how much help it took. The Daily Care Sheet prints the day for the next caregiver or the doctor. MY HEALTH keeps your own daily readings — blood pressure, pulse, temperature, weight, oxygen and any others you add — beside how you feel in your own words. The limits are the ones your doctor gives you; when a reading is outside them the app says so and says who to call, and it reminds you when a reading has not been taken. Trends show each reading over a month, a season or a year, and the Visit Summary puts the readings, your own words, your medicines and your questions on one page to print or email before an appointment. It keeps the record and leaves the judgement to your doctor. There is a video visit, a shopping list built from what was bought before, and the receipts. The money register keeps every account and adds itself up; funds and trust deeds are marked at what they are worth on the day you choose. Each property you own has one record on the Property File: when it was bought and for how much, every improvement with its date and cost, what it is worth today and where that figure came from, and everyone attached to it — the HOA, the insurer, the tenant, the lender with the loan’s rate and balance — and what each is paid and how often. NET WORTH reads those records and the accounts and prints one Statement of Financial Condition.

A WORD FROM THE SAVVY SENIOR

This month's featured app is one I wrote for myself. As a disabled vet and being 87 years old I have medicines I have to take on a daily basis, I also have doctor's and other appointments I have to be reminded of PCA does it all and more. I am able to use it to do all my online banking, shopping, etc. One of the most useful tools is passwords. when you enter a place with a website that requires a password the app remembers it for the next time.
